If no upgrades are possible, only three abilities are offered.

Typically, four abilities are offered, of which one is guaranteed to be a class-specific non-upgrade ability and one is guaranteed to be an upgrade. Additionally, many abilities are an upgraded "+" version of another ability and thus will only be offered if the hero already has the base ability. While some abilities are available to all heroes, many are only available to a hero of a particular class.

Upon promotion, the player is presented with a randomly generated list of abilities to choose for their hero, of which one may be picked. This allows you to interfuse with a new target. Interfused targets grant vision and can be used for further purposes. Mingle the mystic's life energy with a Blaze or piece of Scenery. While in Grayplane, they are hidden to enemies and their attacks ignore armor. (Active) With an elusive step, Hero slips into Grayplane. Hero ends their turn and waits for an enemy to come within range, hitting up to one enemy with a melee attack. Position yourself in the middle of some enemies then Entangle the other warrior who has Guardian active, and use Backslam to knock the enemies away and trigger the other warrior's Guardian attacks. These abilities are obtained automatically when a hero selects their class.

Just an example idea: Combine it with a strong Vigilance warrior. You could try something more supportive with things like Windwalk and Zealous Leap to position yourself, then drag your strong damage dealer with Entangle. Since Thorn Lash has long range, a Vigilance build could probably be interesting. Abilities like Viciousness, long range, broadswipes, battledance, and possibly bloodrage can help with more damage per turn. Load up potency/additional damage from gear. If you don't have the Weird hook, try to swap out a hook you haven't resolved yet for it.
WILDERMYTH POTENCY UPGRADE
If you want it to be a damage dealer, you're going to want to get Thorn Lash+ upgrade for better scaling with potency and additional damage, and hopefully you have or can still get Spell Touched on this warrior for the additional potency. I haven't messed around with Botanical on warrior, but just going on experience with other transformations: Any ideas of what builds work well for a botanical warrior? With archery and thornfang etc my hunter is fab, and my mystic does a great job in moving warriors around the place to be primed for broadswipes, and can get potency on the thornlash via vigorflow etc., but it seems none of the warrior skills team that well with botanical? Any tips very much aprecciated. cr*p? He was shaping up to be a decent warrior before, but now he's fully transformed he's barely dealing 4 damage a go and is getting beaten up regularly to the point he's a liability. I recently randomly got it for the child of a legacy character (a warrior) and was super excited to encounter it in the wild, and try it on a warrior for the first time. I've managed to get decent builds out of the pair of them (especially my hunter, she's a beast). I've only had The Strider event (Botanical transformation) twice before in several hundred hours of playing (and I actively cheesed it by making sure I had the right stats for each party member to trigger the event), and transformed a hunter and a mystic.
